Hi there,

This year I have decided to follow in my sisters lead and attempt to complete my first marathon and I have chosen the fast approaching Brisbane Marathon on the 3rd August as my goal. 

I am also taking this opportunity to raise some much needed funds to fight a disease that has had a huge impact on my life and the people around me. 

When I was going through Primary School several of my closest friends lost a parent to this disease all within the space of 18 months. My very fit and healthy Grandpa was diagnosed a few years ago and despite lots of optimism early on he sadly passed away 6 weeks later. Finally, as you read this several people very close to me and my family are fighting the disease or supporting someone through the battle. 

This is just a glimpse into my reasoning for choosing the CANCER COUNCIL VICTORIA as my charity of choice. 

The 42km's I will attempt to run in Brisbane is nothing compared to the fight that many have fought and won, tragically lost or are currently going through at the moment. This disease is so common that most Australian's have a story of courage, survival, persistence or unfortunately sadness that is directly related to Cancer and so I ask that contribute just a small amount. 

I understand that we are continuously pestered and asked to contribute to other worthy funds but all I am asking is an amount that you happily would spend on a coffee and I promise that every dollar will help provide me with motivation to keep putting one step in front of the other for the grueling 42km's.
